Brandywine falls Mist - Whistler To get to the bottom of the waterfall it was about a half hour hike down rock beds, through the forest, and then some very slippery rocks. I love how you can see the curvature of the land that looks like it is almost hugging the waterfall, plus the scale of the waterfall itself. I think the contrast of the dark grey and deep green really make the bright waterfall pop. Summer Blooms on Tantalus Lookout - Squamish This photo is the result of an impromptu drive, when I left my house it was gloomy and rainy. But by the time I'd got to Squamish it had cleared up beautifully and the greenery was glistening. I sharpened the photo to make the flowers pop out and add detail to the mountain range in the back Mirror Images - Vancouver My dad had to go down to Vancouver for business, so I just tagged along and explored the city for the day. I really enjoy doing this to get to know my way around the city and find my favorite spots. I thought the Building with mirror panels looked like it almost disappears and is instead the building reflecting off it. The almost greyscale look really makes it a cohesive image. Bright Adventures - Pemberton Theres a lake about a half hour drive from downtown Pemberton me and my sister like to go to occasionally called Gates Lake. Hidden behind a field and train tracks is a secluded spot surrounded by mountains. The sun shining off the railroad tracks and the added depth the black and white filter give make it a very interesting picture. I positioned my sister in a way that would satisfy rule of thirds. Yin & Yang - Vancouver I titled this photo "Yin & Yang" because it showcases the two sides Vancouver has to offer. There is a pristine sandy beach with bikini clad visitors, sailboats on the water, and even mountains in the background. But also the large Vancouver skyline complete with tall skyscrapers. I think the inukshuks built on the rocks are also a nice touch. Restricted Area Views - Whistler This photo was taken while hiking back up Brandywine falls, the way we went took us into a off limits area. But the unobstructed view of Daisy Lake, lush mountains and forest was amazing. I really like how the trees frame the image and add dimension. All I did to edit this was up the saturated a bit. The Calm Before The Storm - Pemberton This photo was taken at Nairn Falls. It was a bit of a dull day and was just going for a drive with friends and ended up here. After a bit of exploring we noticed the water started flowing a lot more aggressively, just as we were leaving it started to downpour. I think this picture shows the tranquility and stillness of nature despite what is going on around it. I like all the detail you can see in the rocks and pops of green, I do wish you could see the waterfall a bit better though. The Pandemic Affect - Vancouver The photo on the right was taken before Covid-19 and as you can see Granville street is hustling and bustling with people, brightly lit up and overall very lively. The photo on the left is from two days ago, the now dull sign, usually full of up and coming performances. Is now wishing everyone safety during these ever changing times. I thought these two photos should be combined for max affect and is just interesting to document these times. I do wish the photo on the right was better quality. "I always Forget How Much Bigger These Are" - Pemberton Almost every time I go to Pemberton I always forget just how big the mountains are there, especially since it is so close. I think this photo captures the sheer size of them and also you can see so much of the detail and ridges. I think the bright blue sky behind the snowy mountain creates a interesting look. Along with the trees in the foreground that look similar size to the mountains is a great example of depth. Alexander Falls Relaxation - Whistler This is one of my favorite spots in whistler. It is a very scenic drive there with an almost guaranteed bear sighting this time of year. The best part is you can drive your car up to the waterfall to relax and admire it from there. I tried a long exposure for the first time, I think it came out pretty decent and provided a whole new sense of serenity. I love how free flowing and smooth the water looks.
